UNESCO/China the Great Wall Scholarship 2025
The UNESCO/China Great Wall Scholarship for undergraduate or postgraduate studies in China for students of eligible developing countries is now open for application. This scholarship is to encourage the HRD and to build up the human capital of developing countries to promote academic and cultural exchange, education, communication, science, and technology.
The program is jointly funded by UNESCO and the Government of the People’s Republic of China and 75 fellowships for the academic year 2025-2026. Among these 47 fellowships are new applications for 135 developing member countries from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, and the Arab region.
It is recognized for one year as a Visiting Scholar at the General or undergraduate level or Master and PhD study to last between two and five years. English or Chinese will be used to offer the programs depending on the availability at selected universities. Any person who is interested in Chinese-taught programs must have a satisfactory level of Chinese language skills to perform well in the study or research.
Pre-employment preference will be given to those candidates hailing from countries that receive support from UNESCO-China Fund-in-Trust (CFIT) projects, particularly in fields related to education. Also, UNESCO promotes ladies and candidates originating from Africa and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) due to its concern for gender equity and regional development. This is a good time for students who are qualifying to carry out their studies further, gain international experience, and afterward contribute to the development of their nations.
