Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship Scholarships 2024
Highly intelligent and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) PhD and Masters Scholarships for 2025. These scholarships offer the opportunity to study at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, with the new academic session beginning in February 2025.
The AGCAE fully commits itself to knowledge production and complex formations of discursive entrepreneurial modernization in Africa. Requirements and eligibility criteria;
- Open to South African citizens and African foreign nationals.
- Preference is given to previously disadvantaged South African and African foreign nationals.
- Must meet the minimum admission criteria for postgraduate programs at Stellenbosch University.
- For PhD: A relevant Master’s degree is required.
- For Master’s: A relevant Honours degree is required.
- Must have achieved at least:
- 70% aggregate in Master’s programs for AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships.
- 70% aggregate in Honours programs for AGCAE Master’s Scholarships.
- Applications must align with one of AGCAE’s research themes.
- Candidates must apply for the relevant PhD or Master’s program to be considered.
Scholarship Benefits:
- Doctoral Scholarship: R250,000 per year for three years.
- Master’s Scholarship: R150,000 per year for two years.

To apply for the 2025 AGCAE Scholarships, follow these steps:
- Apply for the relevant PhD or Master’s program through the Stellenbosch University
- Central Applicant portal
- Complete the AGCAE Application Form for either PhD or Master’s applications.
Additional Requirements:
- A letter of motivation for the scholarship (maximum one A4 page).
- A research concept note on your proposed research topic (no length limit).
