DAAD Research Grants and Scholarships 2025 for International Students
Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for DAAD Research Grants and Scholarships in Germany. This program offers the opportunity to carry out a research project in Germany and welcomes applications from researchers who are either in the process of writing their doctorate thesis or in the first few years of their postdoctorate.
All interested eligible applicants are encouraged to apply for DAAD Research Grants and Scholarships in Germany. The DAAD research grant enables the PhD candidates to pursue their research in a state-recognized university or a research institution in Germany in cooperation with a scientific supervisor resident in the country.

Requirements and eligibility criteria;
- You are pursuing your doctorate at a university or research institution outside Germany or have completed your doctorate (post-doc up to 4 years after completion).
- You cannot divide the funding period or conduct research in different countries outside Germany.
- You are not eligible if you are pursuing your entire doctorate at a German university.
Funding Duration:
- Doctoral students: 2 to 12 months.
- Postdocs: 2 to 6 months.
Scholarship Benefits:
- Monthly stipend of 1,300 euros.
- Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance.
- Travel allowance.
For funding periods over 6 months:
- Research allowance of 460 euros.
- Monthly rent subsidy.
- Monthly family allowance (for accompanying family members).
- Additional benefits for applicants with disabilities or chronic illnesses to cover project-related costs.
Green Mobility Benefits:
- Subsidy for climate-friendly travel or reimbursement for carbon offset payments.
Language Preparation:
- Payment for an online language course.
- German language course in Germany (subject to DAAD approval).
- Allowance for a personal German language course during the scholarship period.
- Reimbursement of TestDaF or DSH test fees.
