2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition
The UBA Foundation is pleased to welcome application submission from outstanding secondary students in Nigeria for its 2022 National Essay Competition worth about 10.5 Million Naira in educational grant.
The UBA Foundation National Essay Competition is an annual competition targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria as part of the Foundation’s education initiative which is aimed at promoting the reading culture and encouraging healthy and intellectual competition among secondary school students in the country and across Africa. The 2022 Essay Topic is: “ASUU Strikes have often cost Nigerian students time. Advise the Nigerian government on how they can reach an agreement with ASUU to improve tertiary education in the country.” Winners get the chance to walk away with a whooping 10.5 Million Naira in educational grant.

Eligibility for the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition:
- Applicants must be a secondary school student.
- Applicants must be from Nigeria.
- Applicants must submit a scanned copy of their handwritten essay with a maximum 750 words.
- Applicants must submit a passport photograph.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their birth certificate, National ID or Passport.
Awards for the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition:
- First prize winner gets a N5 million educational grant to any African University of their choice.
- Second and third prize winners get N3 million and N2.5 million in educational grants to any African University of their choice.
Selection Procedure for the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition:
- Entries received for the competition will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges consisting of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities, who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessment.
- A second round of competition will involve the 12 finalists to write a second supervised essay from which three best essays will be selected as the overall winners.
Method of Application for the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition:
Interested applicants are to follow the steps below:
- Applicant must submit their valid contact information (Name, Age, School, Address of school, Telephone Number, Residential Address, and Email Address).
- Applicants must upload a scanned copy of their original birth certificates or international passport data page.
- Applicants must upload a handwritten essay on the portal.
