Suitably qualified professionals with substantial experience in and ties to the Global South are invited to submit application for the 2023 Echidna Global Scholars Program at Brookings Institution in Washington D.C USA which seeks to catalyze and amplify the impact of local leaders working to advance gender equality in and through education across the Global South worth a stipend of $22,500 to support living costs and other benefits.

The Echidna Global Scholars Program is a six months fellowship that aims to strengthen the capacity of local leaders to advance gender equality in and through education across the Global South. During Fellowship at the institution, scholars will conduct individual research focused on improving learning opportunities and life outcomes for girls, young women, and gender non-conforming people, develop their leadership and evidence-based policy skills, build substantive knowledge on gender and global education issues, and expand their pathways for impact. The fellowship consist of the Pre-residency phase that sets the basis for the research training, leadership, and strategic impact components of the program and the Residency phase which focuses mainly on expanding Scholars’ reach and impact through publication and dissemination of Scholars’ research on the institution multimedia platforms, strategic impact capacity building, leadership development, and networking

  • Applicants must have a deep understanding of education development issues and gender, strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Applicants must have the ability to collaborate with others, openness to give and receive feedback, and the capacity and desire to learn with speed and flexibility.
  • Applicants must be available for a full-time, on-site affiliation with the institution throughout the residency and must take part fully in the pre-residency activities.
