2022 Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) for Development Practitioners
Suitably qualified Development Practitioners are invited to submit application for the 2022 edition of the Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) worth USD 20,000 to 50,000 for the first prize winner. The Competition is a competitive research grant program that identifies and funds outstanding research proposals that have a high potential for excellence in research and clear policy implications for addressing development issues in low and middle-income countries.
The Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) is an innovative award scheme administered by GDN, funded under the Policy and Human Resources Development Fund (PHRD), managed by the World Bank, and generously supported by the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan. the Competition was founded in 2000 and since then, it has awarded over US$ 4 million in research and project grants to finalists and winners. About 8,800 researchers and development practitioners from low and middle income countries and transition countries have participated in the competition and more than 200 awards have been conferred till date. The theme of the 2022 edition is ‘Post-COVID-19 Governance – Learning from challenging circumstances to build better governance systems’ and will feature two categories below:
- The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD)
- The Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project (MIDP)
The Global Development Network (GDN) is a public international organization, founded in 1999 and is currently headquartered in New Delhi. The Organization supports high quality, policy-oriented, social science research in developing and transition countries to promote better lives. It supports researchers with financial resources, global networking, as well as access to information, training, peer review and mentoring they need to perfect their career. - Capacity building activities before the Awards Competition to support applicants and strengthen project design, development, and writing skills
