The State Scholarships is an annual award aimed at providing PhD scholarship opportunity to outstanding students who are willing to study a degree programme at the institution. The scholarship programme will award a monthly scholarship worth of about € 1,400 to international students with various number of award to students who are willing to pursue a degree program at the institution.
The Friedrich Schiller University Jena formarly known as the University of Jena is a public research university located in Jena, Thuringia, Germany with research traditionally focusing on both humanities and sciences. The university was established in 1558 and is counted among the ten oldest universities in Germany. It is affiliated with six Nobel Prize winners, most recently in 2000 when Jena graduate Herbert Kroemer won the Nobel Prize for physics. It was renamed after the poet Friedrich Schiller who was teaching as professor of philosophy when the university attracted some of the most influential minds at the turn of the 19th century. The University is one of the founder of The German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research founded in 2013 and considered as the only German University with a chair for gravitational theory and one for Caucasus Studies.
