Fully funded scholarships for international students to study in Malaysia will be sponsored by the Malaysian government in the academic year 2024. The Malaysian Government offers scholarships to international students under the auspices of the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) to study in Malaysian Universities.

The Malaysian government scholarships help successfully selected academics to pursue postgraduate studies in Malaysia and enlarge the quality of higher learning institutions which will be of good contribution to the development of the country’s vision to become a center of education for international students. The scholarships are open to students from the given countries to take up studies in Malaysia where their graduate program costs will be catered for.

Requirements and eligibility criteria Government of Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) 2024:

  • Graduates from recipient countries of MIS 2024.
  • Intend to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Masters/PhD) in Malaysia, or are currently pursuing full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private higher educational institutions.
  • Age limit: Not more than 40 years old for Master’s applicants and 45 years old for PhD applicants at the time of application.
  • Master’s applicants: CGPA 3.0/2nd Class Upper (Honours) or higher at Bachelor’s Degree level.
  • PhD applicants: CGPA 3.0/excellent results at Master’s level in a course related to the intended study program.
  • IELTS: Band 6.0 or higher.
  • TOEFL (PBT): Total score of 550 or higher.
  • Previous degrees with English as the medium of instruction (evidence required).
  • Submission of a written research proposal with a minimum of 1,000 words relevant to the intended field of study.

  • ASEAN countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
    Commonwealth countries: CPA regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, British Islands & Mediterranean, Canada, The Caribbean, Americas & The Atlantic, India, and the Pacific.
    Other countries: Afghanistan, Nepal, Albania, Oman, Algeria, Pakistan, Australia, Palestine, Azerbaijan, Qatar, China, Russian Federation, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Senegal, Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Tajikistan, Japan, Timor-Leste, Jordan, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emirates, Libya, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Yemen, Morocco.

Benefits:

  • Covers tuition fees.
  • Monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00.
  • Travel expenses to Malaysia were not provided. Applicants must arrange their travel.
  • Applicants are advised to check expected living expenses in Malaysia.
