Yale Young African Scholars Program 2025
Applications are open for the Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) 2025 program. African secondary school students and those preparing to enter university are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity.
YYAS is an enriching program that is open to assist young African students who are zealous to change the continent. It is a good opportunity for those who intend to be leaders in the future to prepare for tertiary education and develop very productive skills that they can use to make some significant changes in society.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria;
- Age: Must be between 14-18 years old as of 17 July 2025.
- English: Must be able to participate in a rigorous academic program conducted in English.
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of an African country (refugees living in Africa are also eligible).
- School Location: Must currently attend school in an African country.
- Grade Level: Must be a current 10th or 11th-grade student (or international equivalent).
Graduation Date:
- Northern Hemisphere: Must graduate between May/June 2026 and May/June 2027.
- Southern Hemisphere: Must graduate between November/December 2025 and November/December 2026.
Program Offerings:
- Online College Prep Workshop
- Residential Leadership Summit (in Kenya)
- Participants will enhance their academic skills, receive university admissions guidance, explore career paths, and join a network of young leaders from across Africa.
