ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship 2025 to Study in China
Suitably qualified applicants from developing countries are invited to apply for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic session in China.
It enrolls up to 40 students and scholars from LMCs and enables them to study concerning the UNESCO priority areas for up to four years with full funding for a doctoral degree. The Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO) was established in 2018 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) along with 36 other global scientific institutions. The main theme of ANSO can be defined as an international collaboration aimed at enhancing and developing science, technology, and people’s quality of life.
CAS-ANSO Scholarship was established at the beginning of 2019: it provides young scientists from all over the world with degrees or various programs. Through this scholarship, 100-200 Master’s students and 300 PhD students can study at leading institutions like the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and CAS institutes across China.

Requirements and eligibility criteria;
- Must NOT hold Chinese citizenship.
- Must be a national of an eligible developing country in the Global South.
- Proficiency in English or Chinese is required.
- PhD applicants: Born on or after January 1, 1990.
- Must meet the admission criteria for international students at USTC/UCAS.
- Must NOT hold other assignments during the scholarship period.
- Current PhD students in any Chinese university or institution are ineligible. Applicants will be disqualified if enrolled elsewhere in China, and their status will be reported.
