Application is welcome from suitably qualified postgraduate students who wish to embark on health research based in Africa are advised to apply for the AREF Research Development Fellowship 2024. The program aims to improve skills and impact great ideas and knowledge to applicants.

The Fellowship is intended to enable the successful fellow to build upon his/her research proposal, enhance research skills and capacity, cultivate and expand his/her research contacts and connections under the mentorship, and contribute to the preparation of a substantial grant proposal.

Application Procedures for AREF Research Development Fellowship 2024 (How to apply);

To apply for the AREF Research Development Fellowship 2024/25, applicants should first carefully read the application scheme information and review the guidance on completing the application forms.

Once ready, applicants must complete their application form through the designated application portal before the deadline. The application process requires careful completion and the submission of several supporting documents, including:

  • Letter(s) of support from the Host Sponsor(s).
  • (Optional) Letter of support from the Host Institutional Lead.
  • Letter(s) of support from the Employing Sponsor(s).
  • (Optional) Letter of support from the Employing Institutional Lead.
  • Two selected publications to demonstrate the applicant’s career history.
  • A re-submission document (if applicable, for previously unsuccessful applicants).
  • A copy of the applicant’s most recently attained degree certificate, typically the PhD certificate.
  • After completing the application, it should be submitted for signatures by the applicant’s sponsors and the authorized administrative officials at both the Host and Employing Organizations.
