Applications for the 2025/2026 Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships open in September 2024. African students eager to pursue fully-funded postgraduate studies in the UK or South Africa are encouraged to apply.

The Beit Trust collaborates with eight universities in the UK and three in South Africa. This partnership allows for cost-sharing, which increases the number of scholarships available to deserving Masters students.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships 2025 for Africans

  • Must be nationals of Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi.
  • Must hold permanent residence, live in, and/or intend to return to their country after studies.
  • Preferably have a Distinction or Merit (Upper Second Class) in their undergraduate degree.
  • Those with Lower Second Class or Credit/Pass degrees can apply but face strong competition.
  • Holders of a postgraduate degree are rarely considered, except in exceptional cases.
  • Relevant to the proposed field of study is important for scholarship consideration.

  • Apply to any partner university in the UK or South Africa.
  • Be offered admission to a postgraduate course.
  • Notify the partner university that you are seeking Beit Trust scholarship funding and mention your work experience.

Inform the Trust:

  • Inform the Trust after submitting your application to the partner university.
  • Specify the course you are applying for.
  • Confirm your nationality to the Trust:
  • Zambians: Send your application form to scholarships@beittrust.org.uk.
  • Zimbabweans and Malawians: Send your application form to scholarships@beittrust.org.uk.

Submit Online Application:

  • Upload all supporting documents online via the scholarship application link before the deadline.

  • Offer Letter: From a UK Partner University or a PDF of the universities and courses you will apply to at South African Partner Universities.
  • Degree Results: Copies of your academic transcripts.
  • Curriculum Vitae: An updated CV.
  • Personal Statement: A maximum of 500 words explaining how a postgraduate degree will benefit your country and its development.
  • Photograph: A recent clear photo of yourself (not a passport photo).
  • Passport Copy: A clear copy showing the date of issue and expiry.
