Requirements and eligibility criteria for Government of Canada Scholarships to Study in Canada 2024-25:
Applicants must be citizens of one of the following eligible countries/territories:
- Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;
- Europe: Turkey, Ukraine;
- Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia;
- Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.
Applicants must be:
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory.
- Paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the full duration of the exchange.
- Canadian Post-Secondary Institution Requirements:
- Be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
- Have a valid student exchange agreement with the candidate’s home institution that waives tuition fees for scholarship recipients.
- A letter issued by the Canadian institution’s international office or equivalent will be accepted for college and undergraduate research applications with no agreement.
- Inform both the candidate and their home institution of mandatory fees that, in exceptional cases, cannot be waived, before applying for a scholarship on the candidate’s behalf.

Application Procedure for Government of Canada Scholarships to Study in Canada 2024-25 (How to apply);
For Interested Applicants:
- Contact eligible Canadian institutions.
Canadian institutions will:
- Submit applications on behalf of eligible candidates.
- Promote the scholarship within their faculty, staff, and partner institutions in eligible countries/territories.
- Rank applications based on institutional priorities.
- Appoint a single person responsible for application submission.
- Sign a Contribution Agreement with DFATD.
- Disburse scholarship funds to successful candidates.
- Submit qualitative and quantitative reports during the scholarship period.
For Post-Secondary Institutions in Eligible Countries/Territories:
- Communicate with Canadian partner institutions to confirm or explore collaborations and student exchange agreements.
- Promote the scholarship through international offices.
- Identify eligible candidates meeting admission requirements for the Canadian partner institution.
- Provide supporting documents for candidates to the Canadian partner institution for application submission.
- Advise selected candidates to undergo additional linguistic training and gain intercultural skills before departure
