HAN University of Applied Sciences, or HAN, was created in 1996 by the joining of institutions in the Arnhem and Nijmegen areas of the Netherlands. HAN is an abbreviation that has evolved from the Dutch name of the University, which is “Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen”. HAN has recently changed its English name to HAN University of Applied Sciences to depict the internationalization it has embraced.

HAN in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science provides scholarships to international students originating from non-EEA countries. These scholarships are intended to attract bright students interested in obtaining a bachelor’s or a master’s degree at HAN, thus, increasing the cultural and academic diversity of the university.

The HAN NL Scholarship, previously referred to as the HAN Holland Scholarship, seeks to support non-EU/EEA students who plan on studying full-time degree programs in English. For the bachelor program the scholarship can be up to €12,500 divided throughout the program and master program students can have up to €5,000. Moreover, HAN offers the Honors Scholarship for any student who will perform excellently throughout his/her studies in HAN.

Requirements and eligibility criteria;

Be a national from a country outside the EU/EEA.
Not hold a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands.
Have no prior enrollment in a Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
Be accepted into a full-time English-taught degree program at HAN.
Meet the English language requirements with an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of at least 90, or a Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE).

To apply for the HANS Scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic session, start by completing an online application for admission to an eligible program at HAN University. Once you receive an offer of admission, prepare your scholarship application and submit it before the deadline.

If you are selected for the scholarship, you will be notified via email. After receiving the notification, confirm your acceptance of the scholarship in writing.
