For the 12th consecutive year, the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria is on the lookout for bright, determined, and financially disadvantaged students in Nigeria. We believe that with the right financial support and access to information, these students can transform their educational futures. That’s why we’re inviting academically qualified and highly motivated individuals to be part of the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP). The EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) is here to guide students every step of the way. We have regular meetings and seminars to help you through the application process, ensuring you secure admissions and scholarships for U.S. colleges and universities. OFP covers application costs, including exam fees, and provides free U.S. EducationUSA Advising Center membership. Requirements and eligibility criteria for US Embassy EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) 2024/2025:
Complete Application Form:
- Ensure all sections of the application form are filled out.
Academic Results:
Undergraduate Applicants:
- Attach a copy of your WAEC “O” Level results from the WAEC website.
- Include Cambridge A’Level or IGSCE results if applicable.
Graduate Applicants:
- Attach a copy of your final year results and degree results (if available).
- First-Class only (STEM majors preferred).
- Letters of Recommendation:
Undergraduate Applicants:
- Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school principal.
- It should attest to your character, talent, and skills.
Graduate Applicants:
- Provide details for a lecturer, professor, or Head of Department (HOD) for reference.
Transcript:
Undergraduate Applicants:
- Send a scanned copy of your transcripts from JS1 to SS3, including mock and first-term results if possible.
Graduate Applicants:
- Send a scanned copy of transcripts showing a GPA of 4.5 or above on a 5.0 scale.
Essays:
- Write two essays (250-300 words each), one from Group A and one from Group B.
- Essay topics will be provided on the application form.

Additional Notes for Undergraduate Applicants:
- If WAEC results are unavailable, the student must be in SS3.
If WAEC results are available, they must be from May/June WAEC.
Ineligibility:
- Students already enrolled in university education are not eligible to apply.
