2023 Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation Science without Borders® Challenge International Art Competition
The Science Without Borders® Challenge is an international contest that involves students and teachers in ocean conservation through art. The annual competition motivates students to be creative while promoting public awareness of the need to preserve, protect, and restore the world’s oceans and aquatic resources, contributing to the overarching goals of the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation The Challenge is open to primary and secondary school students between the ages of 11 to 19 years with scholarships of about $500 awarded to the winning entries.
The theme for the 2023 Science without Borders® Challenge is “The Sixth Extinction.” For this year’s contest, applicants can help create awareness about endangered species. The Challenge asks applicants to create a piece of artwork that highlights the beauty and importance of a marine species that is on the brink of extinction.

Eligibility for the 2023 Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation Science without Borders® Challenge International Art Competition:
- Applicants must be between the ages of 11 to 19 years.
- Applicants must be enrolled in primary or secondary school, or the home school equivalent.
- Applicants who are college and university students are not eligible for the contest.
Method of Application for the 2023 Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation Science without Borders® Challenge International Art Competition:
To apply to the 2023 Science Without Borders Challenge, interested applicants must fill out the online entry form, upload a picture of their artwork, and make sure everything is submitted before the application deadline! If applicants are under the age of 13, their parents will be asked to provide consent.
