RFI Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship 2022 for Francophoyoung African Journalist & Technicians
RFI is pleased to organize the ninth edition of the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship. The scholarship applications are open to the 25 French-speaking countries of the African continent and training will take place in Dakar. The scholarship will be awarded on November 2, the date decreed by the United Nations as the “ International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Committed against Journalists ” in memory of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon.
The ninth edition of the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship is launched. It is targeted at all young journalists and reporting technicians below the ages of 35 who have already worked in the field of radio for at least two years, and who live in one of the following French speaking countries like: Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, Congo, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Niger, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal , Seychelles, Chad, Togo, Tunisia and Rwanda. Created in honor of its two reporters murdered on November 2, 2013 in Kidal, in northern Mali, this scholarship rewards a young African journalist and a young technician every year. Ten applicant journalists and ten applicant technicians will first be selected on file and then invited to follow a training course in Dakar from Monday October 17 to Sunday October 30, 2022. These workshops will lead to the production of a report for journalists and an “all-sound” element for technicians. The jury will select a winner in each category. The jury will be made up of representatives from RFI, the Senegalese press, the Sciences Po School of Journalism and INA.
