Swiss Government 2025/2026 Excellence Scholarships
Do you belong to the young scholars or artists who are interested in continuing their academic and/or artistic endeavors in Switzerland? The Swiss Government has today opened the doors for application of the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The main intention of these scholarships is to foster cooperation and research between Switzerland and more than one hundred eighty countries. They offer good funding for any young graduate with a master’s or PHD, plus any artist with a Bachelor’s, to continue with his practice in Switzerland.

Requirements and eligibility criteria
- Must be an international student (foreign scholar or artist)
- Must be admitted into a Master’s or PhD program
For Master’s program:
- Must hold or be about to obtain an undergraduate degree (or international equivalent) from a reputable institution
For PhD program:
- Must hold a master’s-level qualification at merit or distinction (or international equivalent)
- Must have a track record of research engagement, which may include:
- Contributions to publications/articles
- Promoting research to a wider audience
- Prizes for research or project work

Application Procedures for (How to apply);
Interested and eligible applicants for the Swiss Government Scholarships must first secure an unconditional offer of admission to a full-time Master’s or PhD program at a Swiss public university. Once admitted, applicants can then proceed to apply for the scholarship.
