The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) Bertha Justice Fellowship Programme 2023 for Skilled Attorneys & Law graduates
The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) is pleased to invite and appoint two suitably qualified, skilled Attorneys & Law graduates to for its 2023 Bertha Justice Fellowship Programme which opens the door to various golden opportunities needed to perfect their law career.
The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) is a registered law clinic whose staff of social justice lawyers specializes in education, law and policy, through conducting public interest litigation, legal research and advocacy, and community lawyering, to advance the right to equitable, safe, and quality basic education in South Africa. The organization also aims to develop young, skilled attorneys and law graduates in public interest litigation.
The Bertha Justice Fellowship Programme is a member of the global Bertha Justice Network, with sole aim to train the next generation of human rights and movement lawyers in pursuit of social justice. The Fellowship provides two-year fellowships to emerging lawyers at well established social justice and movement law centers around the world, where Fellows get practical experience working alongside renowned professionals.

Requirements for The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) Bertha Justice Fellowship Programme 2023 for Skilled Attorneys & Law graduates:
- Applicants must assist in strategic litigation cases that includes conducting legal research, as well as writing, sorting, filing and paginating pleadings, briefs, legal opinions, and other court documents, and attending court and other hearings.
- Applicants must attend to, consult with and assist clients who attend EELC’s daily walk-in clinic.
- Applicants must liaise with clients, counsel, and partners.
- Applicants must research in support of advocacy and litigation activities.
- Applicants must assist in the drafting of research reports.
- Applicants must provide input into submissions for policies and legislative reform.
- Applicants must assist with community engagement programmes.
- Applicants must represent EELC in civil society and public forums.
- Applicants must generally, support the Centre’s attorneys and the effective operation of the Centre’s programmes.
