UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship 2025 at Maastricht University

Suitably qualified international students are invited to apply for the fully funded UM Brightlands Talent Scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year at Maastricht University. This scholarship is open to students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue a master’s program in the Netherlands.

The UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship offers four full scholarships each year, which include a tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend. These scholarships are awarded to top-performing students with great personal development potential who have been (conditionally) admitted to a master’s program linked to one of the Brightlands campuses.

Brightlands is a collective of four innovation campuses located in Limburg, the Netherlands, where students, researchers, and entrepreneurs collaborate to drive breakthroughs in fields like chemistry, health, agrifood, and data science. Depending on the program you choose, your study could take place at campuses in Maastricht, Heerlen, Sittard-Geleen, or Venlo.

Requirements and eligibility criteria;

Must hold nationality from a non-EU/EEA country and be eligible for a Dutch visa and residence permit.
Cannot have dual nationality from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
Must not have previously participated in a degree-seeking program in the Netherlands (exchange students are eligible).
Must be under 35 years old as of 1 September 2025.
Must commit to being an active Brightlands and UM ambassador during and after studies by sharing experiences in at least one session.
Must have applied for admission to a participating master’s program at UM for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Must meet the admission requirements of the UM master’s program.
Can only apply once; ensure all documents are complete before applying.

If you’re interested in the UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship, start by registering for one of the participating programs at Maastricht University (UM) through Studielink. Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll receive a UM student ID number, which is required to complete and submit the scholarship application form.
