Requirements and eligibility criteria

  • Proof of a 2024-2025 government student aid package of at least $2,000, or proof of 2024-2025 Indigenous band sponsorship, Metis Nation post-secondary funding, or disability funding.
  • (Past government aid, personal bank loans, educational loans, and registered educational savings plans are not accepted.)
  • If funding is delayed, email Work-Study (work_study@umanitoba.ca) to determine a plan.
  • Registered as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Manitoba for both Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 terms.
  • Minimum 60% course load (9 credit hours per term for undergraduate students).
  • Graduate students should contact Work-Study to determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
  • Achieved a satisfactory academic standing with a minimum 2.0 institutional GPA in the previous academic session.
  • (Not applicable for new UM students.)
    Residing in Manitoba throughout the Work-Study employment term.

Annual Re-Application:

  • All students must re-apply each year due to financial aid requirements.

Steps to Apply:

  • Register or log in to your existing UMConnect account.
  • Navigate to the Work-Study section and select “Work-Study Program Application.”
  • Complete and submit the application form for pre-approved Work-Study access.
  • After submitting, click the “Accept” button under “Action required by you” to view and apply to job postings.

  • Attach documents demonstrating eligibility, such as:
  • Copy of your 2024-2025 financial aid assistance
  • Indigenous band sponsorship
  • Disability funding
