2023 Association of Commonwealth Universities Early Career Grants
Suitably qualified, emerging Researchers who are employed by an ACU member university with a job title of lecturer, post-doctoral researcher, professor, associate professor, or equivalent are invited to submit application for the 2023 Association of Commonwealth Universities Early Career Grants which will give successful applicants the opportunity to share their research, learn about the latest developments in their area of work, and build valuable professional networks.
The Association of Commonwealth Universities Early Career Grants is an annual grant offered for both virtual (online) and in-person with about 25 to 40 grant awarded to emerging Researchers who are to take part in the conferences that would have a profound impact on their teaching and research. The conferences will give participants an opportunity to share their research, learn about the latest developments in their area of work, and build valuable professional networks. The Grant help to ensure that more emerging researchers and the universities that employ them can benefit from these valuable opportunities because researchers are known find themselves better informed and better connected with new knowledge that can be shared and multiplied among colleagues and students.
The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) was established in 1913, and has over 500 member institutions in over 50 countries across the Commonwealth. The University is the world’s oldest international network of universities with the sole mission to promote and support excellence in higher education for the benefit of individuals and societies throughout the commonwealth state and beyond. The university has a combined population of 3 billion, mainly under the age of 30, in Commonwealth countries.

Eligibility for the 2023 Association of Commonwealth Universities Early Career Grants:
- Applicants must be employed by an ACU member university with a job title of lecturer, post-doctoral researcher, professor, associate professor, or equivalent.
- Applicants must be within 7 years of the start of their research or teaching career.
- Applicants must not have previously traveled for work purposes outside their region of employment since the start of their research or teaching career.
- Applicants must not be a previous beneficiary of any ACU Early Career Conference Grant.
Benefits of the 2023 Association of Commonwealth Universities Early Career Grants:
Benefits for virtual conferences includes:
- Conference registration fee of about £600 GBP
- A data grant of £50 GBP for successful applicants with no reliable access to Wi-Fi
- Free access to a half-day training session on how to deliver great virtual presentations
Benefits for in-person conferences includes a grant of about GBP 2,000 to cover the following expenses below:
- Conference registration fee
- Flights
- Accommodation
- Visa costs
- Travel and health insurance
- COVID-19 testing for travel
Interested applicants are required to submit their application form via the online website. Applicants should ensure to submit a report on the use of their grant by October 31, 2023.
